BEEKEEPING FOR BEGINNERS

Follow up to the INTRODUCTION TO BEEKEEPING

Report on last years Basic Assessment course held at Morden Medical Centre.
By Charlotte Winterborn

This commenced on 30th January 2006. The classroom was Morden Hall Medical Centre and we are grateful the management were able to accommodate us for these extra meetings. We had 10 students who received notes covering the study programme. This allowed them to read around the subjects. The articles of Beecraft proved to be a useful source for them. Peter Bowbrick and myself led the sessions which were included our Wimbledon BKA monthly meetings. There were 4 follow-up practical sessions held in the apiary in April.  It had been good to meet new people and we are looking forward to continue working with them in the apiaries . If you see new faces around be sure to make them welcome.

Beekeeping course for Beginners.

New to Beekeeping?  Is this a hobby/craft that would interest you?  This course offers an insight to Honeybees, their life cycle and their place in the environment.  It will also give you practical Beekeeping  'hands on' experience and a knowledge of hive products.

Many of our members will already know about the 2 day Beekeeping summer courses WBKA runs. Over the last 5 or 6 years it has been very successful. A number of new members took up the craft after their experience during that weekend. To remind you - mornings are spent in a classroom and the afternoons are spent in the apiary.  It will be advertised in "Beecraft".  It will also be advertised locally in the libraries and through yourselves spreading the word.

Both locations near Morden Northern Line Underground
